The $51.3 million Weaver Road design-build project reconstructed six failing bridges and rehabilitated two additional structures near the city of Canyonville, Oregon.
The bundle included two structures across the South Umpqua River and one across Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad mainline tracks.
As a member of a multi-discipline design-build team that included Hamilton Construction, OBEC designed three of the I-5 bridges and the accompanying roadways, including the addition of a new 2,500-foot-long northbound entrance ramp to I-5.
The Weaver Road project featured a collaborative design review process and regular coordination meetings to expedite design delivery and ensure that the project was able to meet an accelerated schedule.
The project was completed substantially ahead of schedule as a result of the design-build team's close coordination with the multiple local stakeholders involved, including Douglas County, Oregon Department of Transportation, Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad, and Oregon Bridge Delivery Partners.
