Long Prairie Road links commercial and industrial traffic from central Tillamook County to regional transportation routes. When the Johnson Bridge over Trask River developed significant shear cracks, heavy truck traffic had to be re-routed onto county roadways that were not designed to handle the weight.
The County applied for and received OTIA III funding to replace the bridge on this critical route. OBEC worked closely with County officials and the local community to keep the road open with a temporary river crossing while the permanent bridge was constructed.
In addition to designing and providing construction engineering services for the 260-foot-long two-span precast prestressed concrete girder bridge, OBEC also put together an ODOT and FHWA-compliant roadway bid package that enabled the County to secure ARRA funding and complete the roadway approaches to the new bridge.
