OBEC has completed the design and contract documents for the 303-foot-long bridge replacement structure for the Lower Sucker Creek Bridge on Holland Loop Road near Cave Junction, Oregon. The three-span replacement structure consists of precast prestressed concrete 60-inch bulb tee girders with a cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck that span the Lower Sucker Creek channel. Interior support piers consist of single columns resting on drilled shafts while the end abutments are supported by driven steel piles. The new bridge will remain on the same alignment as the original and will include upgraded railings to meet current safety standards.
Carter & Company of Salem, Oregon has been selected by Josephine County to construct the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2011. A temporary 2-lane detour bridge will be installed adjacent to the new structure in order to maintain public traffic on Holland Loop Road during construction. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2012.
