Building on the Eugene/Springfield area's reputation for bike- and pedestrian-friendly transportation alternatives, this new four-mile-long stretch of multi-use path connects two of Springfield's most popular recreation areas: Clearwater Park and Dorris Ranch Living History Farm.
Dorris Ranch, just south of Downtown Springfield, is Oregon's oldest working filbert (hazelnut) farm and features a popular network of riverside nature paths that will now connect to the new Middle Fork Willamette River Loop Path.
OBEC provided a feasibility study and final design of the path, including ADA accessibility, vehicle parking, two stream crossings, landscaping, and a trailhead with restrooms. OBEC also performed all permitting for the project.
OBEC's engineers designed the trail's alignment to avoid critical impacts to private properties, riparian areas and wetlands, and large trees, and to avoid costly structural elements such as retaining walls and large bridges.
