SPRINGWATER TRAIL THREE BRIDGES OPENING, PORTLAND, OREGON

Gary Rayor, Project Engineer, received a Certificate of Appreciation from METRO Department of Parks and Green Spaces for the McLoughlin Boulevard Bridge.

On October 19, 2006 the City of Portland Parks and METRO Department of Parks and Green Spaces celebrated the opening of the "Springwater Trail Three Bridges Projects" filling a gap in the regional trail. The trail now spans McLoughlin Boulevard (below left), Johnson Creek (below center) and Union Pacific railroad tracks (below right) on three bridges designed by OBEC Consulting Engineers.

The signature McLoughlin Boulevard/ Highway 99 E arch bridge, located on the boundary between the City of Portland and the City of Milwaukie, acts as a unique and recognizable gateway to both cities. With 63,000 cars a day passing under the bridge, the City of Portland has received acclaim for the innovative and graceful design of the bridge and the bold use of color.
