OBEC provided engineering services for the design and construction of roadway modernization of 10.6 miles of a primary forest highway near Sunriver, Oregon.
The project was originally planned as a two phase project with phase two to follow 8 to 10 years later. Project delivery decisions among WFL, the US Forest Service, and Deschutes County resulted in phase one and two being combined into one project with a shortened timeline for final plans, specifications, and estimates. Our engineering team adjusted workloads to successfully deliver the project two years ahead of schedule.
To keep up with the need for safe bicycling along the popular route, the roadway shoulders were widened. Additionally, the new road updates the horizontal and vertical alignments to conform with current standards and includes construction of a rockery wall, trailhead parking areas, and concrete intake and weir structure for regulating water surface elevations.
OBEC received a letter of commendation from WFL for developing innovative solutions, producing a high quality product, and meeting the challenges of an accelerated delivery.
