Personal passion and a tradition of excellence.
OBEC team members believe their integrity is reflected in quality work. We value honesty and personal responsibility. We push for and support excellence – and we achieve it in a collaborative and productive environment.
We offer balance with a healthy sense of humor and compassion. We joke. We make time to volunteer in our communities. We celebrate company and personal successes together.
In the end, no moment is greater than delivering for a client: the team hustle to solve a critical issue, the impeccable plans delivered ahead of schedule, the call to let us know that we pulled through when it mattered most.
We take pride in what we do.
We are expected to do amazing work, and we have the freedom to do it the way that works best for us.

We started with a single bridge.
In 1966, a small team of former ODOT engineers founded Oregon Bridge Engineering Company as a subsidiary of Hamilton Construction, in Springfield, Oregon. Their first design was a 3-span, 68-foot-long concrete bridge near Albany, Oregon.
Our tradition of branching out lives on.
In 1971, our founders struck out on their own, bringing with them a strong sense of the connection between office engineering and field construction. Since then, we have grown from a handful of engineers working in a single room to a diversified company providing a full range of civil and structural engineering services, as well as survey, environmental permitting, construction inspection, and construction management.
successfully completed projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western United States.
The ideas that guide each and every project. This is our business DNA.
Working in the Great Northwest
From urban lights to wilderness solitude, our employees are never more than a couple hours from something truly amazing.
As a northwest firm, we live among some of the most beautiful scenery on earth, from rugged coastlines to glacier-capped volcanoes and high desert plateaus. Outdoor enthusiasts find no end to the adventures available to them, whether it’s a simple lunchtime bike ride or a weeks-long trek on the Pacific Crest Trail.
In addition to Seattle, Portland, and Eugene, smaller towns also offer a wide array of venues for dining, music, theater, arts, and sports. It is easy to keep the calendar full year-round with an abundance of foods, beers, wines, events, and festivals.
Where we're going from here.
We don’t just help today, we plan for tomorrow.
Infrastructure Inventory Management
Our built environment has to be rebuilt every few decades. We look ahead to help clients plan out the infrastructure that will preserve our Pacific Northwest quality of life and help communities thrive.
Roadway Preservation and Modernization
A modern road has to work harder and smarter than ever. OBEC is working to build a safe, multi-modal network that reduces congestion, improves efficiency, and incorporates automated vehicles.
There is a roughly 20% chance that our region will see an 8.0+ quake by the year 2066. We take this seriously, and strive to be a leader in seismically resilient infrastructure – ultimately helping save lives.
