48th Street Wetland and Weir
The goal of this unique project was to naturally pretreat the water in the channel to the maximum practical extent before it enters the McKenzie River close to EWEB’s drinking water intakes. Our team assessed the feasibility of treating water through wetland restoration and water retention in the 48th Street Channel.
We analyzed alternatives to determine the treatment options within the confines of the project area, working with EWEB to develop an alternative that met the goals of the project and addressed all of the concerns of a range of project stakeholders. The solution ultimately included extensive grading and a structural weir to control water flow.
