BPA Olympia Region LiDAR
OBEC established a survey grade GPS horizontal and vertical control network for Bonneville Power Administration utility power line corridors in the Olympic Region in Oregon and Washington.
The control work included setting 25 primary control concrete monuments at various substations and approximately 275 secondary control monuments along the power line corridors. Each monument was occupied with GPS dual frequency receivers in a detailed network to provide control and confidence for LiDAR mapping and future survey effort.
- The network extended from Portland to Astoria, Oregon, north into Washington over the entire Olympic Peninsula to the Canadian border.
- The project utilized two GPS base station trailers capable of logging data over long periods of time unmanned.
