Tukwila Urban Center Pedestrian Bridge

OBEC provided specialty survey services during construction of this unique 220-foot-long twin-tied arch bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Green River. The new bridge provides a connection between the Southcenter retail hub and the Tukwila Station that serves Amtrak, Sounder Transit trains, and Metro RapidRide.

The unique bridge design required ultra-accurate surveying of the actual steel pipe arch ribs and cable hangers that could then be compared to the original 3D design model. To accomplish this, OBEC used 3D laser scanning to create a digital model of the bridge as it took shape. This allowed our specialists to advise the contractor with exact, up-to-the-minute adjustment values for the bridge’s structural elements.
