Description
• Project to mitigate the risk of a dust deflagration.
• New jacketed cyclones, new blowers and explosion venting, and suppression were installed and instrumented with controls and alarms back to DCS

Scope of Work
• Developed overall TIC for funding
• Worked with vendors to develop construction bid quality packages
• Reviewed and approved vendor drawings
Challenges
• Equipment vendors uncooperative from many previous false starts
• The plant was not ‘excited’ about the project – no bottom-line increases
• Very little documentation of existing structure
• P&ID’s were out of date
Keys to Success
• Integrated project team approach.
• Project execution plan.
